So here we are – fight night a matter of days away and somehow the gym feels different. It’s enveloped in a different sort of energy…nervous, excited energy that’s about to pop and hopefully that will happen right on cue this Sunday.

I looked. I really did but there was little love in the cage on Wednesday night (7th April).
Although little talking, it was a noisy session…the sounds of regulated breathing, the sounds of bodies sprawling on the mat, running on the spot, letting out groans of pain, the sounds of exhaustion. And all the while abuse from the man they all respect…the coach. Read the rest of this entry »
Nicole and Lucy are hot! Annoyingly they’re also smart, dare I say it….nice and they frickin’ look good in their underwear.
Never has there been so much debate on our facebook page as when their pix were posted. Sadly judged by some before we’ve even had a chance to get to know them….now people, that’s not fair. 35 days to go until ‘The Beginning.’
So for 90mins last night I sat with my eyes and mouth wide open. Just over a month to go until the big show and Paul was in no mood for messing. The intensity of the training was palpable…. no voices just heavy breaths, grunts and that sweet sound of punches and kicks hitting their targets and bodies being slammed to the mat.

Although he chose one of the coldest weeks in decades to pay the MMA Clinic a visit – his welcome was anything but chilly.
As corner man to UFC champions, Matt Hughes and Robbie Lawler – being a guest coach in the UK was a first for Fiore. So magnetic was his appearance at the Clinic, artic conditions and winter’s erratic transport did little to deter members as each session was packed full with fighters eager to soak up the tips being tossed their way. Elle Rose thinks she’s got a big nose! But it’s not her nose that first strikes you when you meet her. Although her name sounds like something from a bygone era she’s very much of the moment. If you’re wondering who Harry is, he’s the guy who looks like the dad of the annoying twins John and Edward from the X Factor. However that’s where the resemblance ends. Harry has a big personality, when he’s in the gym you know! He’s a man with an encyclopaedic knowledge of all things combat and a haircut from a bygone era…more about the hair later. Meet Adam Willoughby –Clinic boxing and muay thai coach.
Adam is hard-core. Well he would have to be hanging out with Ben Woods. First impressions are of a shy, young guy but then I find out that he’s had 15 competitive muay thai fights – a couple for UK titles and 6 fights in Thailand, in some of their biggest stadiums as well as on Thai TV.

It was the fourth Contender night and there were two things on our minds – pulling and punching. As I’m not one for gossip, I’m not sure how successful the pulling was but take it from me the punching was perfection.

At 24 years of age, Tony White is the baby of the Clinic’s staff and so it’s fitting that he should be working under the guidance of Mr Experience, Paul Hines.
