WBA title returned to Khan

Amir Khan has been reinstated as WBA light-welterweight ‘super’ champion by the governing body ahead of his fight with Danny Garcia.

The Bolton boxer lost his WBA and IBF belts in a hotly-disputed points defeat to American Lamont Peterson in Washington last December.

Bute must wait for Froch rematch

Carl Froch will defend his IBF super-middleweight title against an as yet unknown opponent in the UK in November before taking a rematch with Lucian Bute next March in Montreal.

Froch bounced back from his defeat to Andre Ward in the Super Six tournament final by sensationally stopping Bute in the fifth round of their contest at the Nottingham Arena in May.

Mitchell gets Burns title shot

Ricky Burns will defend his WBO lightweight title against Kevin Mitchell in Glasgow on September 22.

A fight that has been in the making for several months, Burns v Mitchell is a domestic clash that will have British fans excited. A venue for the fight has yet to be decided.

WBC uphold Chisora ban

The World Boxing Council has upheld their indefinite ban of Dereck Chisora following a meeting of the organisation’s Supreme Board of Governors in Mexico City.

After his infamous February brawl with David Haye in Munich, the WBC announced that they would not allow Chisora to fight again under their jurisdiction until he had completed anger management classes.

Pacquiao to get Bradley rematch

Manny Pacquiao looks set to face Timothy Bradley for a second time after five independent judges ruled the Filipino should have won their original bout earlier this month.

Bradley was awarded a controversial split decision following the WBO welterweight title fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on June 10, with Bob Arum, the promoter of both fighters, left stunned by the result.

Price set to cash-in Stateside

British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price will have his first fight in America next month.

Price, the first Liverpudlian to win the British heavyweight title, will fight in Atlantic City on July 27 after revealing the news on his Twitter account.

Haye-Chisora: British boxing board condemns Upton Park fight

The British Boxing Board of Control has condemned the proposed fight between David Haye and Dereck Chisora and threatened to remove the licence of anyone involved.

Haye and Chisora are set to meet on 14 July in a fight sanctioned by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation.

So the Pope has been and gone with much talk of whether there’s religion on this little Isle.  Well I’ve seen the light and now everything is clear – we have religion and it’s MMA.  After months of watching our MMA boys prepare for their fights I realise that this is their religion and that I am a member of their congregation.

Yep two weeks after The Contender, I still feel the same and yes this post is a little late…sorry folks.

I love Contender night and I know that I am in good company when I say that.  It’s one of those nights when most fighters are entering the ring for the first time, it’s one of those nights when the fighters are entering the ring for the only time – for many it’s that once in a lifetime experience. September 2nd did not disappoint   As always an amazing atmosphere, the DJ got the place rocking and our very own ring girls Nicole and Lucy looked lovely in (more…)

Cage Warriors Under new Ownership & Management

Cage Warriors Fighting Championship (CWFC) and Warrior Promotions.
Boylan, takes control of the UK’s longest standing MMA Event, the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship and he is now putting plans in place for CWFC 38, which takes place in London on October 1st. A show which he has already 75% sold out.
Boylan who runs four successful gyms, three in London called The MMA Clinic and one in Ireland called The Boxing Clinic has plans for the development of the sport, both in the UK and Ireland.

Big shout out to all the boys who fought @ the Seni 2010 this weekend , The MMA Clinic came away with 5 medals for such a new club this is big news all the fighters and supporting members that turned out did the club proud . April 18th D Day – “The Beginning”

A near capacity crowd at the HMV Kentish Town Forum witnessed its first ever night of MMA in Central London.  News of Volcanic disruptions had filtered through on Saturday but as the first fighters made their way to the cage, the crowd erupted and didn’t lay dormant until the very end of the very last fight.  Here’s what happened… (more…)

I looked.  I really did but there was little love in the cage on Wednesday night (7th April).

Although little talking, it was a noisy session…the sounds of regulated breathing, the sounds of bodies sprawling on the mat, running on the spot, letting out groans of pain, the sounds of exhaustion.  And all the while abuse from the man they all respect…the coach. (more…)
