As victor of his fight we wanted to know what “The White Tiger” felt about the whole experience. Here’s what he had to say…
“Nervous? The White Tiger? Hell yeah! I’d played the various scenarios over in my head from about six weeks in.

Although victory eluded him on the night, Damon ‘Maim’em’ Bell still had a fantastic experience. He didn’t actually maim his opponent but he entertained us all trying.

There’s nothing mini about this Cooper. At a stately 6’8”, first impressions of Joe are that he’s a gentle giant but under closer inspection he could easily be mistaken for a man with tourettes! When in uncontrollable pain from The Boxing Clinic’s circuits, he can’t control what comes out of his mouth as he can be heard screaming and yelping like a puppy or shouting mother f** ker!

…SHOES AND FANCY FOOD’S HER THING!
Elin is one of the many international faces at The Boxing Clinic. Born in Korea, raised in Sweden and now living in London with her partner. She’s a graphic designer who loves her job but thinks she might like to do other exciting things in the future – she’s not planning on being a Contender though!
Her greatest extravagances are food and fancy foot wear which almost contradicts the fact she’s part of our fight club and uses the ‘F’ word more often than she would like! (more…)

So far, 2009 has been a year of all things new for Emma Parkin. The New Year was spent in New Zealand, she’s newly engaged and she’s just started sparring too!
Originally from Tavistock in Devon, Emma now lives in North London via New Zealand. She works for the drinks’ company Diageo as an Event’s Coordinator and one can only assume that she got the job because of her good right arm – not only can she knock a drink or two back, she’s got a wicked upper cut too! RUNNING SCARED? NOT ANY LONGER!
When he first entered The Contender Contest several months back, he described his boxing style as “scared”. Well, we think that it’s safe to say that’s exactly how his future opponents might feel, as James (more…)

That’s Paul Hines, The Clinic’s new trainer.
We’ve already got Burpee Boylan and Bad Ass Ben, what will we make of Paul, our new trainer? My first impression of Paul was that he was quietly spoken, pensive and patient – but soft and cuddly he’s not.
Combat’s his thing! He’s a full time Combat Instructor at Pancrase London – an all singing all dancing gym for combat of all kinds.

Keelin sounds like a game on girl. An independent woman, working in the competitive world of broking and boxing in her down time to ease some of the current high stress surrounding the world of money. It’s not her dream job but a stepping-stone to something higher up the ladder when Keelin eventually returns to her native Canada.
But it’s not just the high stress of her job that’s driven her to boxing – it’s our fine food too!

At the sprightly age of 20, Kieran thinks that he may be the baby of the Clinic. Certainly he must be one of them if you don’t count the Saturday morning kids’ sessions. However, when considering some of his answers to my questions he seems old beyond his years.

That would be Chris Olsen we’re talking about!
Of Danish and Filipino decent, but born and raised around London, Chris claims to eat porcelain dolls for breakfast, swans for lunch and then tends to his chickens in the evening! If this is true, then fellow Contenders beware!

It’s all in a day’s work for Catherine Porter !
She currently lives in Fulham with her boyfriend of four years but gets out to the countryside whenever she can to indulge in her big love – horses. And although she describes her least favourite sound as that of the alarm clock, she is regularly spotted in the gym before 08.00.

With over 130 members in the boxing clinic it’s impossible to meet everyone or sometimes even to put a face to a name. So over the next few months we’re inviting YOU to tell us a little bit about yourself.
Jason L of team 3 was our first volunteer and although not a Contender he seems a pretty content kind-a-guy. A Londoner born and bred, he’s been a fight fan for most of his 30+ years, thanks to his dad and the good old BBC.
