She’ll jump through hoops to win the Contender!
Elle Rose thinks she’s got a big nose! But it’s not her nose that first strikes you when you meet her. Although her name sounds like something from a bygone era she’s very much of the moment. She dresses like a rock chick and has more tatt’s than Amy Winehouse – I guess we’ll find out if she can sing at the Christmas party.
She’s a vegetarian, tries to only eat organic, works in retail (so spends a lot of time with the public – no wonder she boxes) and works hard to keep fit. But she’s a woman who doesn’t take herself too seriously, when asked what she would save from a fire she said without hesitation, “my wraps and gum shield of course”.
She joined the boxing clinic just under a year ago, “I got really fed up with my local gym being full of complete posers and instructors with no energy. I’d always really wanted to have a go at boxing so found the boxing clinic website and persuaded my mate Angelika into coming along too”. Her first impressions were good, “I couldn’t remember using so many muscles after my first session with Graham and can remember thinking how motivating all the instructors were. Nine months on and it just keeps getting better”.
A year ago there were no girls regularly sparring but Elle is one of the new breed of girls who now spar weekly and she a
bsolutely loves it. “It’s completely different to classes”, and she advises, “…be prepared for the odd bruise. My nose has started to take on a new form”.
Elle has decided to enter the Contender in February 2010, “Yes I’m giving the one in February a go…be afraid ladies”! She says this with her tongue in cheek…I think. Week by week she is upping her training and sparring as often as she can to hit her peak in time for February.
Away from the gym, Elle indulges in a few guilty pleasures, “I love anything with sugar in it (organic of course)…I have a slight addiction”. Her favourite drink is tea or wine and her last meal on earth would be a large steak….”I’m a vegetarian so why not”!
When asked if she’d ever stolen anything she replied, “Oh yeah, Angelika’s boxing clinic hat. And can you believe that someone stole my shoes at work not long a go, I had to catch a taxi home bare foot”!
When asked who would play her in a film biopic Elle had a witty response, “Barbara Streisand – we have the same nose”! Speaking of the nose provides us with the perfect opportunity to wish Elle the best of luck in her contender bout – here’s hoping the nose stays out of trouble.
